Even after my hit and miss postings I still have readers! Ones who are requesting special topics at that. My dressing room has been under construction much of the summer and I am happy now to share pictures of the finished product. I am lucky to have this space in my home, but now it really suits me.  The lighter mint walls, freshly painted floor and better organized walls and spaces make the room more useful and pretty.  I have featured pictures of some of my favorite things: including  my vintage hand mirrors hung on the wall, a few of my glass Fenton shoes, artwork that has been gifted to me by friends and family members, my cameo collection and perfume bottle display.  I have also shared pictures of the more useful pieces: including my new handbag bar, shoe shelving and scarf bar. I love being a girl and think the space in which you work throughout the day should be inspiring.

vanity seat and classic dressing table.

I am currently redesigning my dressing room-such a treat.  I am lucky enough to have this beautiful space to display my love of fashion and feel like a lady.  My husband rescued this gorgeous antique vanity and we cleaned it up.  I love it "as is" and have only added new knobs, accessories and a new vanity seat to this rescued beauty.  I bought this old brass chair at a garage sale for $5.  My husband painted it mint for me and made a base for the new upholstered seat.  I bought this beautiful chevron fabric and we remade the seat exactly as I wanted for under $10.  I cannot wait to finish this room's makeover and upload pictures :)

kid's country fashions.

It has been awhile since I did a kid's fashion post and this past weekend's wedding pictures of my two children and niece left me inspired to update that.  Our families attended a country themed wedding for a family ceremony and the result were some adorable photo opportunities.  My son wore a handsome cowboy button down, fitted jeans and great cowboy boots.  He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, wagon wheels and country music.  My daughter wore a cotton printed dress, hand-me down cowgirl boots from a family friend and a huge head of curly hair.  She especially enjoyed running outside, posing for the camera and playing with her brother and cousin.  My niece wore a sweet, cotton gauze cream colored dress, brown boots (later white sandals) and a 5 toothed smile.  She enjoyed the pink balloons, food and dance floor.

vintage fabrics.

During the Memorial Day sales I found this beautiful, powder pink, Dior brand slip at an Estate Sale at a cottage in Caseville, MI. The color of the slip and the beautiful lace caught my eye and after I saw the "Dior" embroidery I bought it for $3. I have already worn it once and display it in my bedroom on a delicate "hers" hook.

The antique handkerchief I purchased at one of my favorite stores in the thumb of Michigan-The Lemon Tree in Caseville, MI (more specifically their upstairs). This place is a treasure trove to me. The top of the building is full of redone, antique furniture, bed linens, old dishes, books, and has many great ideas.

Jackson's Style.

My son is the most handsome thing in the world. I would describe his personal style as outdoorsy and preppy. He loves tractors, fire trucks and being outside. He is tough but sweet and thoughtful. He is an old soul and an amazing little boy. He is the light of my life.

Wish list

For many years I wore a very skinny gold band on my right pointer finger. I lost it in a restaurant a few years ago and cannot find just the right one to replace it with. The price of this one is a bit high, but so beautiful I had to share!

My cruise fashions

I did not do a very good job of collecting photographs of any of my full outfits like I promised...sorry. I wish I had because there were some looks I was quite proud of. This is the best I had when I looked back through my photos.
I have to say that packing for and dressing for a cruise is very fun and exciting. I had the chance to pack light clothing for warm weather that was casual, bright and comfortable. However, I also had a reason to pack something dressy for every single day. I also had to consider this for each member of my family as I packed. We brought most of our clothing, but some of Emilia's sundresses and a few of my accessories were purchased as souvenirs and enjoyed on the trip. I loved packing for a cruise. I really enjoyed having an excuse to change my outfit so many times a day. I loved wearing hats, gold jewelry on tan skin, flowing sundresses and fitted evening dresses. The dressing, photography, shopping and time with family were my favorite things about this trip!

Being Mom

Two days this week as stay-at-home mom...different looks=equal comfort:)

my most beloved "thing"

I do not treasure items much in my life-I try to focus on people but if I did chose one object to treasure it would be wedding/engagement ring. My husband and I have been dating for almost a decade (highschool sweethearts) and married about 3 1/2 years. As we talked about marriage over the years I always told him I wanted him to pick out my ring and I wanted it to look "antique and unique." When he asked me to marry him February 2007 I thought he did an amazing job and I am in awwwe of how well he captured the spirit of me in this ring. This is the only item I could lose that I feel truly is irreplaceable.
