We rearranged our living room furniture to accommodate our Christmas tree and preferred the new setup to the old (which left us with a considerable blank space from the tree). This worked out well because a table a friend and I repainted last year (view table makeover) had been in our kid's playroom and I had missed working at it in our new home. It is now arranged in our living room under a large window looking out at the street. I have gone back to using this table everyday. I find this to be a very peaceful place to read my morning devotional, play or do a craft project with the kids, journal, clip coupons, etc. It works out well because I can have the space quietly to myself in the mornings but throughout the day it keeps me closer to where the kids are playing or my husband is watching TV while I fold laundry or serve a snack here. It has worked out so well, the color scheme goes well in my living room and this new useable space makes me smile!

fenton shoes.
I have been collecting Fenton glass shoes for about a year. I keep my collection in my dressing room (I will elaborate more on this room when it is really how I want it). My son and I scooped up this old dirty shelf for a dollar at Goodwill. We repainted it, added the striped print as a backdrop and placed all my shoes on it for a beautiful display upstairs. The only problem now is that the shelves are already full...guess we will have to be creative when we add more pieces to our collection...thanks buddy.

a few of my favorite kitchen accessories.
I just wanted to share a few of my favorite accessories and spots in my kitchen. My kitchen is mostly black, white and teal but I have a few small accents of other colors and I think they are unexpected and compliment the overall feel of the kitchen and the rest of the house.
This small area of butcher block countertop and white painted brick is my favorite spot in the kitchen. Eventually my husband is going to have this backsplash of brick go throughout the whole kitchen for me. For now it highlights this small, clean splash of yellow and makes the baking center of my household stand out.
The black backsplash that goes around most of my kitchen is not my favorite and in an especially visible spot I propped this beautiful white, glass breakfast tray to draw the eye elsewhere. Also, my mom gave me that green ceramic bird a few years ago and I love how it is so prominently displayed in the kitchen in front of the breakfast tray.

kitchen collections.
In my kitchen I collect three different items: vintage Pyrex dishes, Ball jars and old utensils with wooden mint colored handles. Above my refrigerator, I have a display area that I am able to put a few Pyrex dishes along with my antique utensils (top photo). Next to my breakfast nook I have some handy shelving that houses my Ball jars and some glass RJ excavated from my grandparent's farm (bottom photo). I love how the turquoise and clear jars play against the light and the green wall behind them. I plan to continue collecting all 3 of these items and I have actually added and edited these two areas some over the past weekend.

cake plate and tea cup stand.
This beautiful cake stand and tea cup stand were found on my trip to Arizona. They coordinate with the chandelier I LOVE in my dining room and display some of my treasured dishes beautifully. My mom bought the tea cup stand (which I believe was intended for candles) as a Christmas gift for me and I found the coordinating cake stand. Neither was fun to travel home with, but totally worth it!

valentine's day Pyrex display.
I take pride in my Pyrex collection. As it has grown over the last couple of years I have had to get creative on how to use, display and enjoy all 51 pieces that I own (so far ;) ). As I was decorating for Valentine's Day recently I decided to turn my dining room buffet into an oasis for all my pink Pyrex pieces. I have since added a few items, but this gets the jist of the idea. It has received so many compliments I think I will continue to rotate different displays on this beautiful area, under my favorite windows in the house. Also, I cannot believe I haven't written more about Pyrex on here. My goal is to get a photo of all my pieces on my blog by the time summer hits! Enjoy Pyrex lovers!
